Winery Feature: Charlie & Echo

Our featured winery of the month is Charlie & Echo. Charlie & Echo is one of the original natural wineries based in San Diego. They are on a mission to produce wines that exemplify San Diego - not only its terroir, but its cuisine, culture, and lifestyle.

About Charlie & Echo:

Charlie & Echo is focused on natural, local, urban wine making. They create their wines using grapes grown in local vineyards and aim to be as natural as possible. They do so by relying only on the naturally occurring yeast in the grapes, with little to no interventions and no chemical "corrections". They love experimenting with wine beverages - mimosas, sangrias, amaros - and out-of-the-box enhancements like hops and glitter to find crazy combinations that are pleasing to the senses.

While the fun and liveliness is evident, so is their care for creating a better planet. Owners Clara (aka Charlie) & Eric (aka Echo) are members of 1% for the Planet and give 1% of their sales back to the environment — whether or not they are profitable. By offsetting the complete carbon footprint of their wines and using a portion of all sales to obtain even more carbon offsets, they are able to be a positive impact on our climate (not just neutral).

Clara and Eric are making waves in the wine industry with their innovative, fun take on the art of wine making. They were recently named one of the Top 10 San Diego Wineries by San Diego Magazine!

We will be featuring 2 Charlie & Echo wine's this month. Each is grown in San Diego County and made using only wild yeasts, unfiltered, and with minimal intervention:

Featured Red:
2021 Two Ton
Alcohol: 13.8%

Dry red natural wine. Bing cherry, blackberry jam, white pepper, and roses. Recommend serving slightly chilled.

Featured White:
2021 Unchartered
Alcohol: 12.2%
A dry white Viognier and Riesling blend. Rich on the nose with honeysuckle, lemon, and peach, switching to lime and nectarine on the palate with a long, tingly finish.
