The Somm Series is a monthly workshop-style event to demystify the world of wine and make it fun, approachable and accessible to all levels of wine drinkers. Whether you're a certified sommelier yourself or you simply love learning what’s in your glass, this event is a great way to network with fellow wine lovers and learn more about different topics in the wine world.
September's workshop highlights a growing wine region that is doing things different - the wines of Baja, Mexico! Baja, and specifically the Valle de Guadalupe, has surged onto the wine scene as a destination for winemakers and wine lovers alike who are excited about new, innovative viticulture. Our host, Veronica Carrillo, is an expert in the region, operating her own tasting tour group, All About Baja Wines. She will share with us why the Valle is such a budding region, how the wines differ from other areas of the world and the exciting ways that winemakers in the Valle are distinguishing themselves in this fast-paced growth environment. As always, tickets include a 5-pour tasting and a 1-hour presentation from Veronica. Learn more about her story below!

Meet the Somm
For over thirty years, Veronica’s passion has centered around creating unforgettable client experiences. Whether that includes streamlining travel details or curating memorable activities and excursions, her focus is on creating elevated one-of-a-kind adventures that encourage others to see life through a different glass (of wine, of course!).
With a B.S in Tourism Management, Veronica served in various roles at high end hotels and exclusive membership clubs as a sales manager, concierge, and special events coordinator, with each position paving the way to the development of her business, All About Baja Wines.
As a native of Ensenada, Baja California and wine enthusiast at heart, she has combined her passion and expertise to conduct private wine tastings focused on Baja Wines in the beautiful Valle de Guadalupe. Her tours focus on giving her clients experiences that are rich in culture, highlighting the beauty of the wines produced in this region, all while enjoying a relaxing and rejuvenating getaway.
In addition to being passionate about wines from Baja, Veronica has leaned into the wine community as a whole, completing various courses and seminars on Wine Appreciation and Education, serving as the Education Lead of Women’s Wine Alliance, and becoming a member of the San Diego Wine Guild.
